This term should not be confused with a Will or Living Trust. A Living Will expresses whether a person wishes to have life saving efforts, usually water and nutrition, withheld if the person is terminally ill or seriously injured. Often a healthcare surrogate is named in the living will. That person, usually a family member or very close friend is given authority to make certain healthcare decisions for the terminally ill or seriously injured party.
